bitsensing and Korea Wide Pilot Commercial Vehicle Driver Assistance System

Radar-based safety technology to be installed in 500 buses

November 4, 2025 – Seoul, South Korea – bitsensing, a leading radar solution company, announced that it will collaborate with Korea Wide Group, a major South Korean transportation company, and its affiliates Gyeongbuk Express and Jinan Express, to launch a large-scale pilot project for an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) for commercial vehicles.

The initiative will begin by installing bitsensing’s ADAS Kit in Korea Wide’s express, intercity, and city buses to verify performance in real road environments, with plans to gradually expand the system to more than 500 buses.

  • The pilot operation will take place on routes in downtown Daegu, with a population of 120,000 residents and the area forms the core commercial and administrative heart of Daegu Metropolitan City in South Korea.
  • The data will be collected to evaluate detection accuracy, response speed, and driver usability.
  • bitsensing plans to use this data to further refine algorithms specialized for commercial vehicles and to expand the application of its technology to other vehicle types, including trucks and additional heavy-duty models.
  • The collaboration between bitsensing and Korea Wide combines an extensive national transportation network and real-time driving data with cutting-edge radar technology.

This partnership is expected to serve as a significant step toward the commercialization of ADAS solutions for commercial fleets. Both companies plan to use the data collected from the pilot project to support digital transformation in the bus industry and to further enhance traffic safety initiatives.

bitsensing’s ADAS Kit is a fully integrated sensor solution that combines radar, camera, and ADAS functionalities into a single package. It maintains high perception accuracy and fast response times even in demanding commercial vehicle environments, enabling precise detection of vehicles, lanes, and pedestrians.

The system integrates a wide range of safety features, including forward collision warning, front vehicle start alert, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, blind spot information, and moving off information functions. These features are designed to help large buses safely navigate complex urban driving environments where sudden stops, lane departures, and pedestrian encounters occur frequently.

Korea Wide Group operates city, intercity, and airport limousine buses, as well as metropolitan routes and transfer hubs across major Korean cities. With more than four decades of experience in public transportation, the group has been leading sustainable mobility innovation through its transition to electric buses and the adoption of data-driven fleet management systems.

Dr. Jae-Eun Lee, CEO of bitsensing, said: “Urban bus operations present one of the most challenging environments for validating ADAS performance due to frequent stops and complex traffic conditions. Through our collaboration with Korea Wide, bitsensing’s radar–camera fusion technology will establish itself as a trusted and reliable safety solution for the commercial vehicle market.”

Sang-Hoon Lee, CEO of Gyeongbuk Express, said: “We look forward to achieving meaningful innovation in commercial vehicle driver assistance systems through our partnership with bitsensing and to further strengthening passenger safety. We believe this project will serve as a milestone for setting a new standard in the bus industry.”

In addition, bitsensing and Korea Wide showcased the ADAS Kit pilot operation at FIX 2025 (Future Mobility Convergence Expo), held from October 22 to 25 at EXCO in Daegu. During the event, an ADAS-equipped shuttle bus operated between Daegu Station and EXCO, allowing visitors to experience key functions such as distance keeping, stop-and-go assistance, and blind spot detection in real driving conditions.
